2000 Mercury Sable A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Mercury Sable?
A: The service procedure for the HVAC accumulator begins with performing the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure. Remove both the nut and stud from the system after which you can position the degas bottle properly. Remove the degas bottle to the side after disconnecting the hose while removing the bolt and nut. The service team needs to disconnect the suction accumulator spring lock coupling and discard both the O-ring seal along with the degas bottle and suction accumulator spring lock coupling. Installation requires a new O-ring along with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent that meets Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. During the process disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector and eliminate the suction accumulator spring lock coupling twice while disposing of each O-ring seal. After removing the screw you can pull out the suction accumulator from its place. The vessel installation consists of performing the dismantling steps backward while performing an evacuation and leak test before the system charging process.
