How to service and repair the rocker arm assembly on 2000 Mercury Sable?

To service the rocker arm assembly, the valve covers have to be removed and each position of the rocker arm has to be noted in order to fit back correctly. Disassemble the rocker arms and bolts and reassemble in the same order, except that the bolts are tightened in two steps, initially to 10 Nm, and then to 32 Nm.
