    A: The automatic transmission fluid filter service process starts with removing the transmission servo heat shield from the fluid pan rail before positioning the shield aside. A drain pan should go underneath the transmission fluid pan followed by draining the transmission fluid. The procedure starts by leaving two transmission fluid pan bolts at the front but loosening those while prying down the back section to drain the fluid before finally removing the front bolts. Depose the transmission fluid pan and throw away the gasket. Screw the transmission fluid filter out by removing its filter screw before discarding the filter. Check the condition and cleanliness of the transmission fluid pan along with its magnet. Clean the mating surfaces directly and drain transmission fluid from the cooler and lines. Before attaching the new fluid filter O-rings with Mercon(R) V; Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-5-QM, lubricate them properly. Then install the filter while checking that the wire harness stays free from compression underneath. Place the oil pan magnet inside the fluid pan and set a new gasket on top before installing the pan screws loosely. Begin by tightening the screws following a crisscross pattern and afterward reconnect the servo heat shield by clipping it onto the pan rail. Lower the vehicle while adding at least 3.7 liters (4 quarts) of Mercon V Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-5-QM and check both the fluid level and transmission operation.
