2001 Ford Explorer Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on 2001 Ford Explorer?
A: The repair and servicing of the coolant reservoir must start by removing the air cleaner outlet tube and removing the engine air cleaner (ACL). Position the speed control servo aside by removing the bolt first. The service requires users to disconnect the windshield washer hose found beneath the dash panel but users should use a hose plug to block it. Disconnect the electrical connector for the windshield washer pump located on top of the windshield washer reservoir. Proceed by resetting the clamp before disconnecting the radiator overflow hose from the radiator filler neck while plugging the hose. To extract the radiator coolant recovery reservoir and the windshield washer reservoir simply remove their respective two nuts and bolts. The first step of installation involves putting the radiator coolant recovery reservoir and windshield washer reservoir into place before securing the bolts and two nuts. Use the clamp to fix the radiator overflow hose to its connection at the radiator filler neck. Connect the electrical connection of the windshield washer pump hose to both the reservoir and the dash-mounted hose. Conclude the operation by correctly positioning the speed control servo along with its bracket then install the bolt while filling the cooling system.
