2001 Ford Explorer Evaporator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core on 2001 Ford Explorer?
A: When repairing the evaporator core start your work by disconnecting the battery ground cable. Properly recover and discharge the refrigerant through the correct procedure. The next step involves disconnecting both the A/C cycling switch along with every electrical connector and the A/C blower motor resistor connectors. Service of the heater core begins by eliminating the heater water hoses and extracting the heater water control valve vacuum hose. The position control servo needs to be placed aside through bolt removal and electrical connector severance. Put the windshield washer reservoir/coolant recovery reservoir to the side following its nut and screw removal. Detach the tubes from both suction accumulator/drier and condenser to evaporator connections. First disconnect the A/C system vacuum harness followed by removing the A/C evaporator housing mounting nut inside the vehicle and then remove the housing by taking out three underhood and one underdash nuts and lifting it out to completion. Disconnect the suction accumulator/drier from the A/C evaporator core before removing the screws that fasten the housing cover. Then separate the evaporator case halves to lift out the A/C evaporator core. Install the device by following the backward steps of the removal procedure while properly lubricating the new A/C evaporator core with PAG compressor oil and YN-12-C or F7AZ-19589-DA and any chemical comparable to Ford WSH-M1C231-B specification.
