- Q: How to Service the PCV Valve on 2001 Ford Taurus?A: You must remove the air cleaner outlet tube and the splash shield as a first step to service the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve. Detaching the throttle spring should be followed by disconnecting both the accelerator and speed control cables if they are present. First remove the bolts from the throttle cable mounting bracket while detaching the pushpin for transitioning the engine wiring harness to reach the service area. Safely remove the PCV hose both from the intake manifold before removing it completely. Completion of the PCV valve removal requires you to rotate the valve 180 degrees until you can pull it out from the oil separator. The installation of the new PCV valve requires performing the steps in reverse order to their removal sequence.
