How to Service the Rear Door Power Window Motor on 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis?

The first step to service the rear door window motor requires users to disconnect the battery ground cable. Access the rear door window motor by removing rear door trim panel then pulling strap handle and watershield. Disconnect the connector then remove the rivets from the door inner panel while avoiding enlargement of its sheet metal holes. Through the access hole users must detach the window regulator motor bracket from the inner panel by removing Torx® screws then sliding the motor backward to access the screws. Remove the window regulator motor by performing separation from its connection to the window regulator before taking it out of the rear door housing. Start by placing the Torx® screws on the window regulator motor before aligning it correctly to the rear door electric window regulator along with the window regulator motor mounting bracket. The rivets installation requires correct positioning of the window regulator motor mounting bracket against the inner panel but you can also use 1/4-20 x 1/2 inch bolts and washer assemblies as replacement fasteners. Reinstall the connector before placing watershield and pulling strap handle and completing the process by installing rear door trim panel.
