2002 Lincoln LS Antenna Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the antenna cable on 2002 Lincoln LS?
A: A service or repair of the antenna cable requires users to first disconnect the battery ground cable. It is essential to leave the original antenna lead-in cable inside the rear lamp wiring harness during replacement work because you must install another cable above it then fix it using ties. The instrument panel along with the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and the front and rear LH scuff plates must be removed allowing open access to the wiring harness after protective covers are eliminated. To continue, lower the rear seat backrests by detaching them from their holders located inside the luggage compartment. The upper rear seat bolt latches on the LH and RH side must be released to expose the side bolsters. You must start by removing the five pin-type retainers on the upper pass-through trim panel so you can free its latch covers. The removal procedure starts with taking out the high-mounted stoplamp cover followed by moving the LH and RH rear door opening sealing strips as well as rear quarter panel trim panels apart from the clips when gently pulled outward. The pin-type retainers should be removed from the package tray. The last step includes removing the antenna lead-in cable from the antenna isolator module. Perform the reverse order of steps for reinstallation and keep the original antenna lead-in cable there if replacement is required while using ties to secure the new cable. The process of sonic noise prevention can be achieved through end cutting of both cable sections to eliminate the metal connectors from the old antenna lead-in cable.
