2001 Lincoln LS Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the antenna cable on 2001 Lincoln LS?
A: Service and repair of the antenna cable requires a first step to disconnect the battery ground cable. The antenna lead-in cable has a permanent attachment to the rear lamp wiring harness therefore new cable installation should start above the existing cable while securing them with ties. The service begins by stripping off the instrument panel while removing the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and the front and rear LH scuff plates while making sure to expose the wiring harness through protective cover removal. Release the rear seat backrests by moving both LH and RH rear seat backrests downward through the rear seat back release handles which exist in the luggage compartment. Move the rear seat side bolsters to the side by opening up their upper retaining latches. The five pin-type retainers and latch covers need removal to separate the upper pass-through trim panel. Start by removing the high mounted stoplamp cover. Then position the LH and RH rear door opening sealing strips and rear quarter panel trim panels aside by flipping them out from the top to disconnect the clips. You need to uninstall the package tray by removing the pin-type retainers from it. The installation process ends by unlocking the lead-in antenna cable from the antenna isolator module. The installation requires following the reverse steps of removal while cutting both ends of the antenna lead-in cable to eliminate magnetic noise when the new cable is in place.
