2002 Lincoln LS Steering Angle Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Steering Angle Sensor on 2002 Lincoln LS?
A: Service procedures for the Steering Angle Sensor must start with disconnecting the battery ground cable. First pull the lower steering column opening finish panel by removing the screws until it extends enough to reach the electrical connectors. After disconnecting these connectors remove the finish panel. After disconnecting the hood release assembly with its screws you need to detach the heater duct and screw from the system. Unfasten the bolts holding the carpet from the console tunnel and unscrew four screws which separate the steering column opening reinforcement. Disconnect the steering wheel rotation sensor while detaching the electric tilt/telescoping motor electrical connectors before proceeding to disconnect the other electrical connectors. Support the steering column first and then remove both lock nuts and the steering column discarding the nuts. Remove screws before you separate the electrical connector from the steering column as well as removing the sensor. The reverse order of uninstalling procedures will finish the installation.
