2002 Lincoln Navigator Coil Springs Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Rear Coil Springs on 2002 Lincoln Navigator?
A: A vehicle service or repair on the rear coil spring starts with raising and supporting the vehicle. Heating up wheel nuts to break loose bindings may harm both the wheel component and bearings. Start the process by removing both the wheel and tire assembly together with the driveshaft. The service and repair of rear coil springs requires first disconnecting the rear brake anti-lock sensor (ABS) electrical connector and releasing all tension from the parking brake system control. Place suitable equipment in the parking brake control after pulling the front parking brake cable and conduit. The rear parking brake cable and conduit need to be disconnected from the rear axle bracket assembly and caliper to remove them as a single unit while performing the same steps on the other side. The disc brake caliper must be set aside after bolt removal using wire to secure it while repeating this operation on the opposite side. Disconnect the rear axle by removing the bolts that secure stabilizer bar retainers then their matched retaining components from the axle vent tube and stabilizer bar. Use High-Lift Jacks to support the rear axle before you take off the lower shock absorber nuts and bolts then do this procedure on both sides of the vehicle. Separately remove the rear axle-to-trackbar assembly bolt while also removing the rear suspension lower arm assembly-to-axle bolt and the rear suspension upper arm assembly-to-rear axle bolt for both sides. Remove the coil spring from the bottom position of the rear axle. Tighten specifications apply only after lifting the rear suspension to parallel lower arm position with the ground level; proceed with nut and bolt tightening order. Start by placing rear coil springs before securing the rear suspension upper arm assemblies to the axle with bolts then proceeding with the lower arm assemblies installation. First install the trackbar to the axle followed by its bolts then complete the installation with the shock absorbers and their respective bolts. After aligning the stabilizer bar with the axle attach its retainers and bolts. The brake caliper must be repositioned followed by bolt installation while connecting parking brake cables and conduit must go to lever and rear axle bracket assembly. You must install the tire wheel assembly following the process of removing the pin from the parking brake control assembly and connecting the rear brake anti-lock sensor (ABS) electrical connector and the axle vent tube then installing the driveshaft.
