2002 Mercury Mountaineer A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser with Auxiliary Climate Control on 2002 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: Services for the HVAC condenser with auxiliary climate control must start with investigating a condenser core leak before removal through a leak test. The installation of a new suction accumulator becomes needed exclusively when system contamination happens because of a failed A/C compressor or when the suction accumulator sustains damage. Begin the process by recovering any refrigerant before you take off the air cleaner housing along with the upper radiator sight shield. The compressor manifold and tube assembly should be separated from the condenser core through nut removal while discarding the O-ring seal. The worker first removes the front auxiliary outlet line spring lock coupling from the underbody auxiliary outlet line and throws away the O-ring seals. Place the radiator air deflector in front position after you remove the bolt and radiator grille and three pin-type retainers. The installation process starts with removing the nut to set aside the suction accumulator before disconnecting the condenser to evaporator line through the removal of its nut from the condenser core. Follow the removal procedure for the top radiator air deflector and RH and LH radiator brackets by detaching their bolts. Reference is given to the RH radiator bracket and the LH version is comparable. You must remove both RH and LH condenser core brackets by unfastening their bolts. Place the air deflectors to gain access to the brackets and then separate the air deflectors from the condenser core. Reinstallation requires following the reverse steps of removal except for new condenser cores which require the proper amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent lubrication of the refrigerant system and the installation of new O-ring seals also filled with clean PAG oil or equivalent. The refrigerant system requires evacuation before leak testing and charging.
