2003 Ford E-150 Camshaft Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the camshaft on 2003 Ford E-150?
A: Service and repair of the camshaft begins by removing lower intake manifold followed by valve covers along with valve tappets and engine front cover and engine dynamic balance shaft. You should first remove the engine balance shaft drive gear and then remove the screws securing the camshaft and finally extract it. You must first apply clean engine oil to the camshaft bearings and lobes and journals before putting the camshaft in its original position. Insert the engine balance shaft drive gear into its place by aligning the timing marks present on the engine balance shaft drive gear as well as the driven gear. The last step of this procedure involves reinstalling the lower intake manifold joined with valve covers and valve tappets and engine front cover together with the engine dynamic balance shaft.
