2003 Ford E-250 Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2003 Ford E-250?
A: The first step to service the vacuum brake booster requires disconnecting the ground cable from the battery while activating the brake pedal until power brake booster vacuum pressure dissipates. The service of vacuum brakes begins by unscrewing the coolant reservoir bolts before placing it to the side. Remove the brake master cylinder retaining nuts because they have torque prevailing properties which make reuse impossible before pulling out the brake master cylinder. The first step involves disconnecting the check valve leading to the power brake booster then pulling out the stoplight switch self-locking pin. Slide the stoplight switch together with the booster push rod and bushing off the brake pedal pin before unfastening the brake booster nuts to remove it. Installation requires the exclusion of master cylinder retaining nuts because they are torque prevailing parts that need to be discarded. Continue the installation in reverse order of the removal sequence.
