How to service the thermostat for the 5.4L and 6.8L engines on 2003 Ford Excursion?

The procedure to service thermostats on 5.4L and 6.8L engines starts by draining part of the cooling system. Disassemble the upper radiator hose by removing its connection before taking out the bolts from the coolant outlet. The next step requires removing the coolant thermostat together with its O-ring seal which needs disposal. When installing the device, place a new O-ring seal onto the coolant thermostat before putting it in the upper intake manifold correct position. Position the coolant outlet connection on top of the upper intake manifold then secure it with its bolts. To complete the procedure reattach the upper radiator hose followed by filling the cooling system.
