2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Wiper Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield wiper motor on 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac?
A: Beginning the windshield wiper motor servicing operation requires disconnecting the washer hose from the left hand washer jet nozzle followed by cowl grilles removal. Unsnap the wiper motor clip from the right hand wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft and disconnect both right hand mounting arm and pivot shaft from the left hand wiper arm. Then move these components away from the windshield wiper motor. Removing the electrical connector allows the wireless ground strap's nut to be removed. Put both parts to the side. Danger exists when handling the motor since its glass-like permanent magnets inside could become damaged if struck during installation. The windshield wiper motor must be removed together with its associated stud bolts and bolts. When installation begins maintain the same attention to the magnets as before. Secondly attach the windshield wiper motor before finishing with stud bolts and bolts. Restate the ground strap before securing the nut followed by attachment of the electrical connector. Before installing the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft arms to the windshield wiper motor start by positioning the LH wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft onto the motor crank pin and then install the RH wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft. After the retaining clip reaches its snap point the installation process starts with reattaching cowl grilles followed by washer hose connection to the LH washer jet nozzle before installing the LH wiper pivot arm and performing necessary adjustment on the LH wiper pivot arm.
