2003 Lincoln Navigator Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Column Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2003 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The process of fixing the brake shift interlock actuator for column shift operation starts with steering column removal. The first step is to pull out the shift lever into the Drive position before removing its two insert plate screws. The service of a brake switch interlock actuator interrupt switch bracket requires one to remove the Park detection switch from its position while detaching the interrupt switch bracket. You should take out the brake switch interlock interrupt switch from the steering column housing while maintaining proper access to its two retaining holes by clearing away any existing plastic material. Unbolt and detach the brake shift interlock actuator from its steering column housing positions by taking out the wire harness from retaining clips and unscrewing its two holding screws. The rod on the brake shift interlock actuator should be rotated to free up the insert plate blocker from the actuator. The installation requires following all actions in reverse order as performed in removal.
