A proper initially step to service and repair the rear brake disc consists of supporting the rear disc brake caliper so it does not hang from the brake hose. Maintain connection between hydraulic lines when eliminating the rear disc brake caliper. Access the adjustment hole through the plug removal to adjust the parking brake shoes and linings with an appropriate tool which must be placed into the access plug slot's far end from where it can retract the lining and shoe toward the backing plate direction. When the brake disc becomes free to move the hub-mount brake lathe can be used for machining purposes according to specifications and a new brake disc should replace it if it exceeds the allowed specifications. Apply Brake Parts Cleaner PM-4 and equivalent solution to eliminate all rust and foreign debris present on the brake disc as well as the wheel and wheel hub. Before installing the rear brake disc and rear disc brake caliper the hub flange and pilot area should get coated with High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant XL-2 or an equivalent product which realizes Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A.
