    A: The first step when servicing or repairing the fuel tank unit requires removing the fuel tank from its position. Remove the pressure transducer connector that stands at the top rear portion of the fuel tank before you clean its surrounding area which includes the fuel pump mounting flange. Take out the fuel pump by removing its bolts while handling it with care to maintain the integrity of the float arm and filter. You should get rid of the aged fuel pump mounting gasket. To start installation you should first cleanse both the fuel pump mounting flange and fuel tank mounting surface and afterward place a new fuel pump mounting gasket onto the flange. Attach the fuel pump inside the fuel tank by fastening its bolts through a star pattern installation. Reattach the pressure transducer connector which should be placed at the top rear corner of the fuel tank after installing the tank back into its position.
