2004 Ford Expedition Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2004 Ford Expedition?
A: Start the repair process of the vacuum brake booster by removing the negative battery cable. You should start by loosing the clamp which allows you to separate the outlet tube with resonator from the air cleaner and proceed to detach the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor's electrical connector. First position the power steering reservoir aside after you remove the screws that keep the air cleaner assembly in place from the air cleaner tray. First remove the brake fluid level switch along with any present brake pressure switch units. Balance the master cylinder by fastening a wire tie or mechanics wire then remove the two retaining nuts and set the master cylinder to the side. Take out the mounting bolts from the degas bottle before placing it to the side. Disconnect the wiring cables at the pedal travel sensor with solenoid and then release the clamp to remove the hose tubing. Disassembling requires pin removal together with washer, bushing, switch and booster pushrod separation. After flipping the sound insulation you can expose the brake booster retaining nuts and remove them from position. Set up booster pushrod with offset directing toward the floor and apply new nuts to connect the master cylinder.
