2004 Ford F-150 Heritage Seat Cushion Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the front seat cushion with integrated restraints on 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage?
A: Safety glasses must be worn during the removal and installation process for front seat cushions containing built-in restraints because they protect from accidental air bag deployment injuries. Hand washing should become thorough after deployment treatment to eliminate all remaining sodium hydroxide waste. When servicing SRS components never begin until you disconnect the battery ground cable followed by a one-minute wait period to deplete back up power supply while removing any auxiliary batteries from circuits. Start by disabling the SRS system and follow up with the removal of the affected seat by disassembling its seat adjuster control knobs and covers and the seat side trim panel screws. The procedure begins with removing the seat recliner handle screw and handle then breaking the lumbar control knob from its position after pulling it off while detaching the three seat side trim panel attachment screws. Next remove the two screws from the lumbar adjustor control attached to the seat track riser and push the adjustment control inward to gain clearance. After that release the side shield rear retainer. Power seat maintenance requires disconnecting the seat control switch electrical connector and the power seat switch electrical connector together with the seat actuator motors electrical connector while also releasing connectors from their cushion pan attachments. The seat cushion assembly can be removed after uninstalling four seat cushion pan attachment bolts on a 40 percent seat. The process to remove a 60 percent seat starts by detaching inboard side shield cover screws then releasing three J-clips followed by three bolt removal before uninstalling four seat cushion pan attachment bolts to lift off the seat cushion assembly. Position the seat cushion first then start by securing the four seat cushion bolts before adding the three bolts and three J-clips for 60 percent seats or reset the procedure for 40 percent seats. You need to connect the electrical connectors of the power seat switch and seat actuator motors to the cushion pan while placing the seat control switch onto the side trim panel before securing it with two screws. The process involves installing the side shield rear retainer next before placing the lumbar adjuster control into position and fixing it with two mounting screws. The process concludes by attaching the seat adjuster control knobs and its covers and screws in addition to reinstalling the seat side trim panel screws. Last step includes the installation of the lumbar control knob followed by the seat recliner handle screw. Finish by putting the front seat in place then activate the SRS before taking off all diagnostic tools from the vehicle because of safety rules and to confirm SRS operation.
