How to service and repair the battery cables on 2004 Ford Focus?

Start battery cable repairs by taking out the battery tray followed by the upper air intake assembly. The battery ground cable requires removal of the body ground cable bolt before you detach the auxiliary battery terminal ground connection nut from the end of the ground cable. The locators of the battery ground cable should be released while removing the engine ground cable bolt along with its attached cable. When removing the battery positive cable you should start by taking out the auxiliary battery terminal positive connection nut then moving the auxiliary battery cables from the positive cable end while releasing the positive battery cable locator. Disconnect the starter solenoid electrical connector while raising and supporting the vehicle and then remove the starter electrical connectors. Workers should remove the B+ nut of the starter motor along with the solenoid nut and detach the electrical connector from the solenoid. As the next step remove the generator followed by disassembling the battery cable bracket nut to position the cable aside before letting the vehicle drop. The final installation step includes taking off the battery cable after disconnecting its positive battery cable locators. Follow these instructions to reinstall the system in the opposite order of disassembly.
