2004 Ford Taurus A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on 2004 Ford Taurus?
A: The first step for servicing and repairing the condenser core requires the recovery of refrigerant. Set the vehicle on a hoist ensuring the gear selector points at neutral. Two bolts need removal from the left section of the condenser core and the right section contains identical bolts. Begin by removing the four pin-type retainers along with the grille and finally take out the two pin-type retainers present on the backside of the grille opening reinforcement. Begin by unscrewing five screws on the lower radiator air deflector but also remove the air deflector by unscrewing another seven screws when it is present. Cutting off the plastic wire tie followed by disconnecting the condenser core refrigerant lines will complete the condenser core removal process and establish procedures to discard the O-ring seals. First remove the pin-type retainers and left-hand and right-hand side air deflectors then disassemble the condenser core by taking out its bolts while being careful to lower the unit carefully. Reverse the removal steps while installing the condenser core and replace O-ring seals soaked in mineral oil along with using the specified amount of clean PAG refrigerant compressor oil F7AZ-19D589-DA that conforms to Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. Evacuation must be followed by a leak test then charging the refrigerant system completes this procedure.
