How to Service and Repair the Instrument Panel Air Ducts on 2004 Ford Taurus?

The plenum chamber needs removal as a first step before servicing instrument panel air distribution ducts by handling the heater core and evaporator core housing. Service begins with removing the driver side and passenger side demister hoses after which you should uninstall the three screws holding the defroster duct in place. Remove the driver side and center register duct by unfastening its screws then disconnecting the wiring harness followed by removing the screw holding the duct to the registers. Proceed by untangling the driver side demister after removing its screw followed by unfastening the passenger side demister. The left side of the register barrel needs to be pried away carefully while the four tabs must be separated before removing the register housing. You should remove the screw which enables removal of the passenger side register duct. During reassembly follow the steps of disassembly in the opposite order.
