2004 Lincoln Aviator Sway Bar Link Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Sway Bar Link on 2004 Lincoln Aviator?
A: You must begin rear sway bar and link repairs by removing wheel and tire assemblies before taking off the driveshaft. Start by taking components away from each other according to the specified order shown in the accompanying illustration along with table. The mounting order for installation should be the opposite of removal steps. When separating the ball joint from the knuckle avoid harming the boot during sway bar bushing and bracket removal because this step requires removal of the nut followed by detachment of the LH upper ball joint. After applying a proper jack to support the fuel tank you must first disconnect the clip and then remove the fuel vapor line. You should begin by unfastening the rear fuel tank strap bolt and the front fuel tank strap nut before dropping the fuel tank two inches in height. To complete the job from the LH side of the vehicle remove the sway bar last.
