2004 Lincoln Navigator Cruise Control Servo Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the cruise control servo on 2004 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Service and repair of the cruise control servo begins with removing the speed control actuator cable cap through a counterclockwise rotation of the cap after pushing in its locking arm. You must remove the speed control actuator cable by activating the spring retainer through depression while pulling the core wire end out from the speed control actuator pulley. The electrical connector requires disconnecting after pushing down on the connector tab. The rubber grommets should stay intact on the speed control actuator bracket. Remove the attaching bolts of the speed control actuator and bracket before removing screws that secure the speed control actuator bracket. Begin speed control actuator bracket installation by properly seating rubber grommets which provide both noise reduction and vibration dampening effect. The speed control actuator's installation requires inserting the speed control cable slug through its pulley slot but only while you carefully compress the actuator spring. The proper functioning of the speed control actuator depends on the complete seating of the rubber seal onto the cable cap because improper pulley cable wrapping can result in a high idle mistake. To finish the installation process release the compressed spring while using the speed control actuator cable cap tabs to slot into the actuator housing ports and turn the cable cap until the locking arm activates.
