2004 Lincoln Navigator Parking Assist Distance Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the parking assist distance sensor on 2004 Lincoln Navigator?
A: A technician should first remove the rear bumper cover from all vehicles when working on the parking assist distance sensor service. You need to take out the parking aid ultrasonic sensor from both Navigator and early build Expedition by disconnecting electrical connectors from the sensor and releasing its locking tabs. First remove the electrical connector from the radar sensor by detaching it while also removing the fasteners and isolating the foam absorber within the bumper cover. Correct installation of the sonar sensor in late build Expedition requires the removal of four nuts followed by the foam absorber from the bumper cover and electrical connector removal and locking tab disengagement. The installation of components should be done by following the removal steps in reverse order while performing Park Aid Calibration and Self-Test Diagnostics.
