2005 Ford E-250 Brake Disc Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the front brake disc on 2005 Ford E-250?
A: Start your repair and service operation for the front brake disc on E-250, E-350, E-450 vehicles by detaching the front disc brake caliper anchor plate. The procedure to remove the brake disc and hub begins by taking away the hub grease cap and then resecting the cotter pin and nut retainer and spindle nut followed by the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer and outer front wheel bearing until the brake disc and hub can be separated. Vehicle-based machining for resurfacing should be performed under instructions from the lathe manufacturer to remove wheel hub grease seals and the inner front wheel bearing. Attempts to install these components require thorough cleaning and inspection of front wheel bearings followed by thorough cleaning of brake disc and hub materials. After cleaning, both components need lubrication for the front wheel bearings. Begin by installing the wheel hub grease seal and inner front wheel bearing after which you should place the brake disc and hub. Install the spindle nut after putting the brake disc and hub into position together with the outer front wheel bearing and the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer. While rotating the brake disc and hub the installer should tighten the spindle nut to specified torque. Then the installer should loosen it by two turns. First tighten the spindle nut during rotation followed by a second loosening then complete the procedure by additional spindle nut tightening during rotation. The installation process ends with protecting the spindle nut through retainer and cotter pin installation and then adding the hub grease cap. Reinstall the front disc brake caliper anchor plate afterward.
