2005 Ford Excursion Intake Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the intake manifold on 2005 Ford Excursion?
A: Service procedures for the intake manifold start with safety precautions including exclusion of open flames and smoking devices near fuel components which contain flammable mixtures. First step is to empty pressure from the fuel system before removing the ground battery cable. Start by draining the engine cooling system before taking off the air cleaner outlet tube and generator. Cable connectors by releasing fuel tube spring locks allow the operation of hose clamp compression to separate the coolant outlet hose and let go of the accelerator cable splash shield. First disconnect the cables linking accelerator with speed control then take out the return spring before putting the accelerator cable bracket in an appropriate place. Disassemble the bracket by unscrewing its bolts then unplug the Positive Crankcase Valve (PCV) tube and vacuum tubes and heated PCV coolant hose and vacuum tube. Remove the five right-hand fuel injector electrical connectors, then the five ignition coil electrical connectors before disconnecting the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor electrical connector and bypass hose and finally the heater hose. Remove the ignition coils by unbolting their ten anchor points following disconnect of the five left-hand fuel injector and Throttle Position sensor electrical connectors. First disconnect the vacuum tube from the fuel pressure regulator andstore the thermostat before unscrewing its housing till removal. Separate the upper intake manifold bolts accompanied by its gaskets and discard both at once. Follow the packaging directions to clean the intake manifold mating surface of cylinder heads by using silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep while you must clean mating surfaces with care excluding metal scrapers and abrasive tools from the aluminum retainer plate.
