The first step in repairing or servicing an intake manifold requires users to separate its upper and lower sections before removing bolts while discarding the intake manifold gasket. Both upper and lower manifolds need internal passages and mating surfaces cleaning using a clean metal surface cleaner followed by a complete drying period. Assemble the lower intake manifold gasket with the upper intake manifold on top of the lower intake manifold before inserting the fasteners in a loose state. Use a two-step bolt torquing process to secure the bolts by starting at 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.), followed by 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) using the documented sequence.
