- Q: How to service and repair the evaporator core in an air conditioning system on 2005 Ford F-150?A: A vacuum leak test of the evaporator core should come first when inspecting for leaks before the removal process. A new suction accumulator needs replacement only when contamination occurs from a damaged or failed A/C compressor combined with damage present in the suction accumulator. Start by removing the heater core followed by a detachment of the wire harness from the evaporator core cover once all screws are removed. Unscrew the EMTC but if you have EATC instead use that to continue the process by unscrewing it. After that you can remove all bottom evaporator core cover screws from their positions. Press the air inlet mode door actuator electrical connector twice before removing all upper evaporator core cover screws and extracting both the evaporator core cover. Finally, extract the evaporator core. After reversing the removal process you must apply the correct amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system before installation.
