2005 Ford F-150 Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Column Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2005 Ford F-150?
A: The brake shift interlock actuator of a column shift requires service and repair which begins after placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The process starts with removing the steering wheel followed by unfastening the damper screws from the lower dashboard frame. Remove first the screw securing the lower steering column shroud then detach the two screws from the upper steering column shroud. Depart the Clock Spring electric wires before using a screw to pull up the multi-function switch and set it to the side. An adhesive tape should be applied to keep the Clock Spring from rotating. Use a flat screwdriver to remove the Clock Spring by pressing its three tabs while sliding it off. The Clock Spring and shroud mounting bracket can then be extracted through the removal of three screws. The brake shift interlock needs its electrical connector removed by releasing the tab before users can lower and extract it. Reinstall the equipment using the reverse order of the uninstall steps.
