2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Antenna Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Antenna Cable on 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: Service and repair procedures for the antenna lead-in cable begin by removing both the antenna base while setting the right-hand front fender splash shield outside the bulkhead area. Start by taking out the two nuts, screws and pin-type retainers before extracting the old radio antenna lead-in cable grommet from the bulkhead to pull the excess cable into the passenger area. The vehicle has its radio antenna lead-in cable connected to both instrument panel reinforcement and defroster air duct which must stay in the vehicle during cable removal. Security tape should be used to protect the remaining cable ends to prevent identification issues or rattles. To install the antenna lead-in cable, feed the cable until the grommet seats properly inside the passenger compartment before fixing it to the instrument panel reinforcement. The installation process requires placement of the audio unit first and later addition of the pin-type retainer followed by the lower right-hand A-pillar trim panel. The antenna base trunk should have its opening routed through so you can position the right-hand front fender splash shield back to the bulkhead before installing the antenna base with two nuts and screws and pin-type retainers.
