2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Brake Disc Parts Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Brake Disc on 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty?
A: All vehicles require removal of the brake caliper along with anchor plate assembly as a first step toward brake rotor/disc servicing but maintain the caliper from hanging from the flexible hose using a suitable supporting tool. To maintain the lowest front brake disc runout when reassembling single rear wheel vehicles owners should use Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor on mating surfaces while marking wheel studs along with the corresponding brake disc stud hole. Rear dual wheel vehicles require users to remove both hub extender nuts and hub extender while using Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor on the brake disc-to-wheel hub mating surface and creating marks between the hub extender stud and corresponding brake disc extender stud hole. Before reconnecting the front brake disc ensure you clean away rust and debris from both brake disc and wheel hub using parts cleaner followed by applying a light layer of anti-seize to the hub flange. Install the brake disc while keeping its marks correctly lined up with the hub. Installation of dual rear wheel hub extenders should be followed by nut installation steps. Position the brake disc caliper anchor plate before installing two new bolts which require tightness of 225 Nm (166 ft. lbs.) for F-250 and F-350 models and 400 Nm (295 ft. lbs.) for F-450 and F-550 models.
