  • Q: How to service and repair the intake manifold on 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
    A: The service and repair process starts with dismantling all components of the intake manifold. The throttle body (TB) requires removal of its 4 securing bolts before you dispose of the TB gasket. The procedure starts with removing 6 TB spacer retaining bolts and continues with disassembly of the IMRC actuator rod C-clip followed by the removal of its 3 retaining bolts. A service technician should remove the fuel rail assembly along with its injectors by unfastening the 6 bolts holding the fuel rail together. Locking clips between the fuel rail and fuel injectors must be detached before removing the injectors from the rail while also eliminating the 2 O-ring seals from each injector. The assembly procedure requires you to lubricate new O-ring seals with engine oil before installing them onto each fuel injector for final assembly with locking clips. Place the fuel rail assembly together with fuel injectors onto the intake manifold by securing 6 bolts which require a torque force of 10Nm and 89 inch lbs. Start by positioning the TB spacer before securing the 2 upper TB spacer bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) and continuing with an additional 90-degree rotation. The lower part of the TB spacer bolting operation requires the same two-stage tightening procedure which should be applied to each of the four bolts. Place a new gasket over the throttle body followed by bolt tightening in two stages at 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) then continuing for 90 degrees. Use 3 bolts to install the IMRC actuator which should be tightened to 10 Nm at 89 inch lbs. while the installation ends with the IMRC rod C-clip.
