2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty Parking Brake Shoe Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the parking brake shoes on 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: Starting repair and servicing of parking brake shoes requires you to first remove the brake disc. The first step is to reduce the parking brake system tension which enables separation of the parking brake cables at the equalizer point. Start the parking brake service by removing the cable from both left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) parking brake bracket assemblies so you can freely rotate the cable away from the parking brake actuating lever. After the two holding clips and the two retaining pins must be removed along with the brake shoe screw and adjusting spring. First remove the outboard brake shoes together with their retracting spring. Follow the uninstallation steps in reverse order to install the components but check all components for wear and damage then replace any damaged parts during installation.
