How to Service the Air Filter Box on 2005 Ford Focus?

The air filter box service requires positioning the vehicle in neutral mode while on a hoist. The service procedure starts by removing the intake air resonator and this is followed by separating the mass air flow sensor pipe from its frame mounting bolt. First disconnect the electrical connector of the MAF sensor before taking out the screws that hold the left-hand fender well splash shield in place. The air inlet tube bolt needs removing before loosening the clamp to extract the inlet pipe. First dismantle the two rearward bolts between the air filter box and frame followed by the forward air filter box-to-frame bolt. The air filter box together with MAF sensor pipe may now be pulled out as a single component. The lower MAF sensor pipe screen might detach from the air filter box elbow and remain there. Check the situation and reconnect it to the MAF sensor pipe if needed. Finish the installation process by carrying out the procedure in the opposite order of removal.
