  • Q: How is the Air Filter Box removed and reinstalled on 2006 Ford Focus?
    A: The air filter box finds its place beneath the shield at the front of the left fender area on the frame. Place the vehicle in neutral mode on the hoist unit. The installation requires users to first remove the intake air resonator and mass air flow (MAF) sensor pipe clamp-to-frame bolt. Reinstall these components with torque at 12 Nm. Remove the LH fender well splash shield by disconnection of the MAF sensor electrical connector and removing 8 screws. Perform bolt removal of the air inlet tube before applying 9 Nm of torque (80 lb-in) while replacing it. Unwind the inlet pipe clamp then detach the pipe before restraining it by 4 Nm torque (35 lb-in), when reinstalling. Installation of the rearward air filter box-to-frame bolts should begin with 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque while the forward air filter box-to-frame bolt will follow with the proper tightening. When reattaching the air filter box assembly with MAF sensor pipe users must torque it to a value of 9 Nm (80 lb-in). The lower MAF sensor pipe screen might detach and stay on the air filter box elbow but you should check it and reposition it properly to the MAF sensor pipe. The process ends by loosening the clamp before separating the MAF sensor pipe from the air filter box and tightening it to 4 Nm (35 lb-in) when reinstalling. The procedure for completion involves reversing all removal procedures.
