Fasten the instrument panel lower steering column opening cover by securing it with two screws then tighten these bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) when you install the cover. The servicing of the transmission selector lever begins with separating the left-hand instrument panel finish panel from the main panel then removing the right-hand finish panel. The technician should remove the screws holding the instrument panel opening cover reinforcement before reinstalling them by tightening to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). The steering column opening brace requires you to remove its screws and follow installation with 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) torque specifications. Put the selector lever indicator cable to the side before loosening its screw and disconnecting the cable which requires a torque of 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.) during reinstall.
