2005 Ford Thunderbird Thermostat Housing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat housing on 2005 Ford Thunderbird?
A: Service of the thermostat housing starts with draining the cooling system. Repeat the following steps by removing the air cleaner outlet pipe from its position. Separate the auxiliary coolant pump-to-thermostat housing hose then place it safely to the side. Secure the two lower radiator hose support bracket bolts at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) before installing them back. The service of the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose requires you to disconnect it and place it aside before continuing. Before moving forward with the replacement disconnect and eliminate three bolts anchoring the thermostat housing along with tossing the former O-ring seal from the thermostat housing. Installation requires the bolts to secure the housing at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) while adding a new O-ring for the thermostat housing which should receive engine coolant lubrication. The cooling system requires final filling while bleeding it to finish up the task.
