How to service and repair the thermostat housing on Ford Thunderbird?

The first step for thermostat housing servicing and repair requires draining the engine cooling system. Start by detaching the intake manifold followed by disconnection of the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing positioning it safely aside. Before moving forward you need to remove both fluid hoses as well as the outlet pipe accessing the coolant. Use channel locks to remove the four securing bolts from the thermostat housing. Comprehensive cleaning of sealing surfaces must occur before a new O-ring seal installation allows you to finish the installation following the removal procedure.
