How to service and repair the piston on 2005 Lincoln Navigator?

In order to service the piston, take out and disregard the piston rings and then undo the piston pin and retarders, detaching the piston and the connecting rod. Wash the two components, fit the connecting rod in place, apply lubrication to the piston pin and clamp it. Prior to installation, lubricate the new rings and piston.
