2005 Lincoln Navigator Seat Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Seat Recliner Motor in a Power Seat Motor System on 2005 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Service of the front seat recliner motor begins with removing the 40 percent seat followed by depowering the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Start by removing the lower seat backrest cover followed by uninstalling two screws from the support rod. Push the tab to remove the head restraint while watching that the pins from the head restraint sleeve cannot match each other. The head restraint sleeve ends can be released by pushing them together inside the seat backrest. Invert the seat backrest trim cover and handle it gently to protect the hook-and-loop strip fixed onto the seat backrest foam. The foam pad from the seat backrest should be removed from the thermo-electric device before separating the foam pad. Start the service procedures by removing the retainer clip from the power recliner motor shaft end and proceeding with the removal of the motor shaft then its cover. The power recliner motor electrical connector gets disconnected first before you uninstall the motor bolt and remove the power recliner motor itself. Start by properly placing the power recliner motor and screw the bolt into position before reattaching its electrical connector. Stick the power recliner shaft inside the motor before passing it through the seat and attach the shaft cover and its retainer clip to the shaft end. Glass the seat backrest foam pad onto the thermo-electric device before installing the seat backrest trim cover with both hook-and-loop fasteners fastened in position. Proceed with attaching the head restraint sleeves before adding both the head restraint along with the hook-and-loop strip and J-clip inseparable connection. The last step involves recovering the power to SRS after installing two screws in support rod, lower backrest cover and 40 percent seat.
