- Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Seat Recliner Motor with a Seat Motor on 2006 Lincoln Navigator?A: Start service on the front seat recliner motor by setting the seat to reveal all the fasteners that bind the seat track to the floor. The supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be depowered beforehand for safety reasons because the air bag warning lamp will turn on during this process when the ignition switch is in the ON position but this normal condition does not indicate a fault. Unbolt the seat cover from the backrest, disconnect two screws while detaching the strap before removing the 40 percent seat. To remove the head restraint detachment start by releasing the trim cover from the hook-and-loop strip and J-clip. Depress the tab on the head restraint guide and note that these guides cannot be put in the incorrect positions. The guide ends must be caressingly pinched to release the two guides which can then be drawn out. During the process of separating the seat backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strip users must handle the material carefully to prevent damage to the backrest foam. Reverse the backrest trim cover to access a minimum number of steps before removing the backrest foam pad from its frame using hook-and-loop fasteners securing it to the thermo-electric device. Separate the pivot rod retainer and its cover before extracting the pivot rod through the power recline motor. Break the electrical connection then detach the bolt to retrieve the power recline motor unit. To finish the procedure reinstall the 40 percent seat while you repower the SRS system after reversing the uninstallation sequence.
