2005 Lincoln Town Car Brake Pedal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake pedal assembly on 2005 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The brake pedal service starts by discharging the car battery power. Begin by removing the pushpins from the instrument panel close-out panel followed by turning the lamp counterclockwise in direction. Move the speed control deactivator switch followed by the stoplight switch retaining pin then remove the stoplight switch and booster push rod from the brake pedal pin. Take out the brake pedal bracket retaining bolt to make way for disconnecting the adjustable brake pedal drive cable from the brake pedal assembly. Remove the stoplight switch harness from the pedal bracket after detaching its connection point then remove the pinch bolt to disconnect the lower steering column shaft from the steering column lower yoke before discarding the bolt. Detach the brake pedal bracket retaining nuts and afterward remove the brake pedal together with the bracket. Repair and maintenance of the brake pedal assembly or accelerator pedal assembly needs the system to be indexed at all times. The brake switch should face upward with its open hole positioned at the top while the closed hole must remain away from the brake pedal arm. Check stoplight function after reversing the installation process.
