2005 Lincoln Town Car Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the intake manifold on 2005 Lincoln Town Car?
A: A proper servicing and repairing process of the intake manifold requires operators to first disconnect the battery ground cable followed by draining the engine cooling system. The first step that must be completed for service or repair of the intake manifold involves removal of the air cleaner outlet pipe resonator assembly and then disconnecting the fuel tube spring lock coupling followed by the removal of wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft. Finish the right-hand (RH) cowl extension removal through pin-type retainer and nut removal and bolt removal. Likewise detach the left-hand (LH) cowl extension after turning off the electrical connector and unfastening the bolts. Disconnect the wiring electrical connectors of the fuel charging system from the eight ignition coils after removing the coil bolts and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system module tube heat shield. Begin the procedure by first disconnecting the electrical connector and vacuum hoses along with the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister purge valve emissions tubes and the generator electrical connector. Then remove the bolts along with the generator mounting bracket. First disconnect the upper radiator hose alongside the throttle control and the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector and finally remove the heater hose. Uninstall the EGR tube by disconnecting the EGR system module tube nut and the exhaust manifold tube nut. The first step involves extracting the pin-type retainer for fuel charging wiring from the crash bracket after removing its bolt to maintain safe distance from the cylinder head. The last removal procedure is the stud. You must disconnect the fuel pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector and vacuum hose together with removing the generator harness position retainer from the LH front shed and the fuel charging wiring pin-type retainer from the rear of the manifold. Begin by disconnecting the ground wire connector from the RH rear stud and the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector then proceed to remove all bolts and eight ignition coils and finally the bolts with the coolant outlet adapter. Rip off the thermostat followed by discarding the O-ring before you remove the bolts from the intake manifold which you also discard with the intake manifold gaskets while cleaning all sealing surfaces. Insert the gasket tabs into the slots of the cylinder head before installing new intake manifold gaskets. First install the intake manifold using hand bolts only before adding ignition coils to secure them with bolts. Fasten the crash bracket loosely with the bolt while following the specified bolt-tightening sequence. Place the stud while fitting the EGR system module tube to its corresponding module before applying the EGR Cube nut at the exhaust manifold. Place the EGR system module tube heat shield before installing its bolts followed by a connection between throttle control and TP sensor electrical connectors. Begin by installing the thermostat combined with an O-ring before proceeding with the thermostat housing and its bolts. Use worm-style clamps of correct size for replacing radiator hose clamps while also attaching the heater hose before installing the generator bracket alongside its bolts. Here the technician connects the electrical connector, emission tubes to EVAP canister purge valve, electrical connector with vacuum hoses, fuel pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector & vacuum hoses, the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors to eight fuel injectors with ignition coils. The crash bracket receives the fuel charging wiring pin-type retainer after you position the generator harness position retainer to the LH front stud. Continue by installing the ground wire connector to the RH rear stud followed by the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector. To install the LH cowl extension workers should first mount the extension and bolts and electrical connectors before moving onto the RH cowl extension which needs extension and pin-type retainers and nuts and bolts. The last step involves attaching the wiper mounting arm along with the pivot shaft and joining the fuel tube spring lock coupling followed by installing the air cleaner outlet pipe resonator assembly before reattaching the battery ground cable while performing engine cooling system filling and bleeding procedures.
