2005 Lincoln Town Car Throttle Body Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2005 Lincoln Town Car?
A: A mechanic should start throttle body service and repair by removing the negative battery cable. First disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and throttle actuator control (TAC) then remove the air cleaner outlet tube from its position. You should remove the throttle body (TB) along with its four bolts before discarding the TB gasket. You should use new TB gaskets when fitting the TB before tightening its four bolts which should receive 9 Nm torque initially followed by 90 degree bolt rotation. Join the electrical connectors of TAC and TP sensor before reinstalling the air cleaner outlet tube. Take proper measures with the throttle body because its bore and plate areas have a special non-cleanable coating while keeping all areas free from smoke and open flames near fuel components to prevent ignition risks.
