How to service the rear bumper cover on 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis?

Start bumper cover maintenance by putting the vehicle into the NEUTRAL gear and securely hoisting it. The first step starts by removing the screws that secure the rear bumper cover then proceeding to remove pin-type retainers and screws which are located on each side. The first step involves extracting 6 pin-type retainers so that 3 of these parts reside on each side. The vehicle needs to be lowered before removing both pin-type retainers and the luggage compartment rear trim panel. Start by keeping aside the luggage compartment lining material before removing the 4 rear bumper cover nuts which should be taken from each side. The rear bumper cover separation can be achieved by removing all six nuts which are distributed between left and right sides. The installation procedure for the new cover involves performing all steps backward from removal.
