- Q: What precautions should be taken when servicing the front seat cushion to ensure safety and proper assembly on 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis?A: Wear safety glasses while servicing the front seat cushion because safety glass reduces the possibility of accidental air bag discharges and avoid contact with the air bag module connectors. When you begin your work you must depower the SRS because removing the RCM fuse combined with turning ON the ignition switch will make the warning lamp illuminate but this is a normal condition without any fault present. The SRS must operate without issues before handing the vehicle back to customers. First position the front seat to work on the fasteners before removing it. Remove only the OCS system from passenger seats which contain this equipment. Follow by taking out the seat track together with the front seat backrest. A seat with power lumbar requires gentle separation of the power lumbar bezel from its tabs before disconnecting the electrical connector of the lumbar switch. Unfasten every retainers by removing both the J-clips combined with the pin-type retainer from the seat. The heated seat module requires disconnecting its electrical connector and element connector before proceeding with removal by using a flat-blade screwdriver to unlock the bracket and extract the module. You must start by removing the cover and retaining clip and pin from the seat then taking off the armrest and its cover trim and the three bolts securing the armrest bracket. Begin by disassembling the frame and afterward proceed to remove the two pin-type retainers and mat whenever needed. Alternatively leave the mat aside during installation.
