How to service and repair the brake backing plate on 2005 Mercury Sable?

The repair process of brake backing plate requires first removal of the brake drum. First disconnect the parking brake cable before taking out the wheel cylinder. Remove the parking brake cable and conduit from the brake backing plate through its path before leading them out of the backing plate area. Cut off the bolt which fastens the ABS sensor and dispose of it. Discard both the backing plate bolt set after you remove them from their respective positions. You should follow the opposite order of removal steps during installation using newly purchased bolts.
